KINGS SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS PRESTIGIOUS HOSPITALS $5,000 EACH
Kings Australia has announced two winning entries in the Kings Scholarship round for 2005. The Scholarship will be divided equally between project teams at the Royal North Shore Hospital (New South Wales) and the Royal Melbourne Hospital (Victoria).
An outstanding number of applications from individuals and organisations Australia wide, and the high quality of short listed applications, lead to the Judging Panel’s decision to split the $10 000 prize money to assist in the implementation and development of the projects.
Mr Michael King, Managing Director, Kings Australia was delighted with the response to the Scholarship and said ‘Both winners are to be congratulated for developing initiatives to enhance the care of the people in both the aged care and acute care sectors of our major hospitals. Hopefully as a result of these projects, a more caring and compassionate attitude towards elderly and dying people will become the norm in any hospital setting’
Ms Julia Poole, Clinical Nurse Consultant, Royal North Shore Hospital is conducting ‘An evaluation of a ‘person centred approach’ in end of life care of older people in the acute care sector’ as the basis of a PhD research degree through the University of Sydney, Department of Nursing and Midwifery.
